About the role
The Communications Specialist – Store Ops is responsible for how Go! Retail Group talks to its stores. This role owns the field communications calendar and workflow, manages the weekly store leadership call, and builds the weekly and monthly playbook that keeps every store format aligned on priorities. The goal is simple but critical: make sure stores get the right information, at the right time, through the right channel — without overwhelming them. This role also supports the Retail Operations team on special projects as they arise.
Essential Functions
Workflow Management – Calendar
· Owns and maintains the master field communications calendar, coordinating timing and sequencing across all store-facing messages, initiatives, and rollouts.
· Manages the intake process for communications requests from corporate departments, ensuring priorities are clear and conflicts are resolved before messages go to the field.
· Prioritizes and paces communications to avoid overload, protecting stores' ability to focus on what matters most each week.
· Partners with Retail Operations, Merchandising, HR, and other departments to plan upcoming store-facing initiatives, policy updates, training rollouts, and events.
Field Communications
· Writes, edits, and distributes clear, consistent, and on-brand communications to stores, including bulletins, emails, and store intranet content.
· Selects the appropriate communication channel for each message based on audience, urgency, and content.
· Serves as a key liaison between stores and corporate support functions, ensuring communication flows effectively in both directions.
· Monitors communication effectiveness and engagement, using feedback from the field to continuously improve content, tone, and delivery.
· Weekly Call & Playbook
· Plans and runs the weekly store leadership call, including building the agenda, coordinating presenters, and keeping the call focused and on time.
· Captures and distributes clear notes, action items, and follow-ups from the weekly call.
· Builds and maintains the weekly and monthly playbook, consolidating key priorities, initiatives, and updates into one clear, easy-to-follow resource for the field.
· Keeps playbook content current and coordinates with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy.
Special Projects & Team Support
· Supports the Retail Operations team with special projects and administrative needs as they arise.
· Assists with the design and production of retail collateral, including meeting materials, toolkits, and store resources, as needed.
· Helps maintain and organize store operations documents, SOPs, and reference materials so they are current and easy for the field to find.
· Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements
· Minimum of 2 years of experience in retail communications, store operations, or a related field-support role.
· Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, actionable messaging for a field audience.
· Highly organized, with strong calendar and workflow management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines at once.
· Comfortable planning and running recurring meetings/calls, including building agendas and keeping discussions on track.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams; experience with intranet or communication platforms is a plus.
· Strong attention to detail and consistency, particularly around brand voice and formatting standards.
· Collaborative team player, comfortable working with many levels of field and corporate management.
· Proactive and solutions-oriented, with the ability to identify better ways of communicating and organizing information.
· Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
