This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer, Release Engineering based in Canada.
As a Software Engineer on the Release Engineering team, you will help build and optimize the infrastructure that enables reliable, high-scale software delivery to millions of users worldwide. You will develop automation and tooling that supports tens of thousands of build, test, and release tasks every day. The role focuses on improving CI/CD pipelines and creating a faster, more reliable experience for software developers. You will collaborate with experienced engineers to identify improvements and turn them into practical technical solutions. Working within a geographically distributed team across North America and Europe, you will contribute through development, code reviews, and technical collaboration. - Develop scalable software and automation supporting high-volume build, test, and release workflows.
- Write and maintain tools capable of handling tens of thousands of tasks across the software delivery lifecycle.
- Collaborate with senior and experienced engineers to identify opportunities to improve developer experience and release workflows.
- Design and implement improvements to build and deployment pipelines with a focus on reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
- Participate in code reviews, both requesting feedback on your work and providing thoughtful reviews to teammates.
- Collaborate effectively with a geographically distributed engineering organization spanning North America and Europe.
- Investigate and respond to critical service outages during normal working hours, helping restore reliable service quickly.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing codebases, development tools, and engineering processes.
- Help maintain and optimize infrastructure that enables reliable software delivery across multiple platforms and environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 2 years of experience working with an object-oriented programming language, preferably Python.
- Strong interest in and practical understanding of CI/CD pipelines and release automation.
- Some previous experience working with cloud infrastructure or resources on platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Comfortable developing and troubleshooting across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments.
- Experience with shell scripting and automation is valuable.
- Experience collaborating within engineering teams distributed across multiple time zones.
- Ability and willingness to understand, maintain, and improve existing codebases and technical tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with an interest in building reliable and scalable engineering solutions.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to code reviews and technical discussions.
- Ability to work independently while remaining engaged with a globally distributed engineering team.
