Position Summary:
The UNM Master of Public Policy (MPP) program seeks a full-time Unit Administrator 1 to provide administrative and operational support for the MPP program, UNM Evaluation Lab, and International Studies Institute (ISI).

Approximately .75 FTE of the position is dedicated to the MPP program and Evaluation Lab and their associated academic, financial, personnel, and community-facing activities. Approximately .25 FTE is dedicated to administrative support for ISI. The position also provides limited administrative support to the Graduate Certificate in Race and Social Justice (RACE Certificate).

The Unit Administrator reports to the Director of the MPP program. Within this reporting structure, the position works closely with the Director of the Evaluation Lab and the Director of the International Studies Institute to support the activities within their respective areas.

MPP Program and Evaluation Lab (.75 FTE)

The Unit Administrator serves as the primary administrative staff member supporting the MPP program and Evaluation Lab. Responsibilities include support for the MPP graduate academic program; the Evaluation Lab and its externally funded projects; the Evaluation Lab Summer Institute, including the ECHO Learning Community; fellowship and student employment programs; and grants and contracts administered through the MPP program and Evaluation Lab.

The position supports the day-to-day administrative and fiscal operations of these activities, including purchasing and fiscal processes; budget and expense monitoring; grant and contract administration; payroll and personnel processes; graduate assistant, research assistant, and project appointments; travel and reimbursements; event and program logistics; and coordination with College and University administrative offices.

The Unit Administrator also supports the academic and student-facing operations of the MPP program, including admissions and applicant processes; student and program records; course scheduling and other UNM academic processes; recruitment and program events; fellowship and internship administration; the MPP Community Advisory Board; program communications, social media, and websites; and general administrative support to students, faculty, staff, and community partners.

International Studies Institute (.25 FTE)

The International Studies Institute is a vital academic unit within the College, offering an undergraduate degree program with a major, second major, and minor that currently serves over 70 students. ISI also administers the Peace Corps Prep certificate program and multiple student scholarships, and hosts 16 public lectures each year.

The Unit Administrator provides approximately .25 FTE of dedicated administrative support to the International Studies Institute. Specific responsibilities will include program purchasing; course scheduling; administrative support for outreach and other program events; administering student scholarships; TA contracts; and assisting with the hiring and management of visiting positions and postdocs. College financial services will continue to provide fiscal support for ISI.

RACE Certificate

The position also provides limited administrative support for routine needs of the Graduate Certificate in Race and Social Justice.

The successful candidate will be an organized and creative problem-solver who can manage multiple administrative processes, work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external partners, and navigate University systems with accuracy and professionalism. The position requires strong communication, organizational, fiscal, and project-management skills and the ability to coordinate responsibilities across multiple interdisciplinary programs.

Preferred Qualifications: 1. Experience providing administrative support in a higher education, academic, or similarly complex organizational environment.

2. Experience with fiscal administration, grants and contracts, purchasing, payroll, and/or other financial processes.

3. Experience with UNM administrative systems and processes, including payroll, PCard, purchasing, GA/RA contracts, and/or other personnel or fiscal systems.

4. Demonstrated experience independently managing and prioritizing multiple responsibilities, implementing broad instructions, meeting deadlines, and maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced work environment.

5. Experience handling sensitive or confidential information with discretion.

6. Demonstrated written and interpersonal communication skills, including experience creating, composing, and editing professional materials and collaborating effectively with others.

7. Experience coordinating and organizing meetings, special events, academic programs, and/or other program activities.

8. Experience with student recruitment or outreach, website maintenance, and/or management of organizational social media accounts.
