Description:

Validus Energy is seeking a qualified Oil and Gas Measurement/I&E Technician in the Anadarko Basin responsible for installation, inspection, sampling and recording, and calibration of oil and gas flow meters ensuring compliance with Oklahoma Corporation Commission (OCC), BLM (Bureau of Land Management), BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs), and other relevant regulatory bodies, and ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of measurement, instrumentation and electrical operations across a defined area.

The role requires strong working knowledge of oil and gas measurement equipment, flow computers, transmitters, RTUs/PLCs, control systems, electrical systems, and field instrumentation. The technician will work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and third-party vendors to ensure equipment is functioning safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Requirements:

Measurement Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot gas and liquid measurement equipment, including meters, transmitters, flow computers, probes, samplers, and related components.
  • Analyze measurement data, track gas/product losses, and perform audits to guarantee custody transfer accuracy. Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement in terms of measurement accuracy, equipment performance, vendor service, and compliance with OCC, BLM, and BIA regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve measurement discrepancies, equipment failures, communication issues, and data inconsistencies.
  • Maintain and validate measurement data, reports, calibration records, proving reports, and other required documentation.
  • Support gas and liquid volume reconciliation efforts and investigate variances as needed.
  • Inspect and maintain orifice meters, ultrasonic meters, turbine meters, Coriolis meters, rotary meters, and other applicable measurement equipment.
  • Ensure measurement equipment is installed and operating in accordance with applicable industry standards, company procedures, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Coordinate with gas control, production operations, accounting, engineering, and third-party measurement groups as needed.
  • Assist with new meter station installations, commissioning, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Maintain measurement-related equipment inventory and recommend repairs or replacements when needed.

Instrumentation & Automation Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair field instrumentation including pressure, temperature, level, flow, and analytical devices.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot RTUs, PLCs, HMI systems, SCADA communication equipment, and associated control devices.
  • Diagnose and repair instrumentation loops, signal wiring, control circuits, and communication issues.
  • Configure and verify transmitters, flow computers, controllers, and related automation equipment.
  • Support automation projects, system upgrades, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Perform loop checks, functional testing, and control system verification.
  • Work with Operations to troubleshoot alarms, shutdowns, control failures, and equipment performance issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of instrument calibration, control settings, wiring changes, and equipment status.

Electrical Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical equipment used in oil and gas operations.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on motors, starters, VFDs, breakers, panels, power distribution systems, lighting, grounding systems, and control circuits.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, loop drawings, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
  • Support electrical installation and maintenance for compressors, pumps, separators, LACT units, production facilities, meter stations, and related equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Identify electrical hazards and ensure work is performed in accordance with company safety standards and applicable electrical codes.
  • Coordinate with electrical contractors, vendors, and operations personnel on repairs, installations, and project work.
  • Ensure proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed when working on electrical or energized equipment.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with at least 1 year of measurement experience and 1 year of I&E, preferred. Experience and familiarity with OCC, BLM, and BIA regulations is essential. Prior experience with OnPing and Scout, preferred.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in measurement, instrumentation, preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to tolerate prolonged shifts involving standing, climbing, lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying weights of up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in and around industrial and construction settings, which may include hazardous products, processes, materials and chemicals, including H2S, as well as prolonged exposure to outdoor work conditions, including extreme cold, hot and/or adverse weather conditions, and loud machinery, and may require appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Must possess a current, valid driver’s license and the ability to meet and maintain all eligibility requirements to drive a company vehicle.
  • Subject to call-outs to respond to operational issues and emergencies after working hours, at night, and on weekends and holidays.

The qualified candidate must be authorized to work in the United States and not require company sponsorship.
