Position Summary

The Janitorial Specialist keeps Maddie's Place clean, safe, and ready for families and staff. • Laundry room: wipe machines, counters, and interior windows; clean glass and blinds.
  • Kitchen: deep clean counters, sinks, microwave, appliance exteriors and handles; sweep and mop.
  • Refrigerators and freezers: clean out and sanitize; label and discard expired items.
  • Steam clean upholstery on a staggered schedule to allow for drying and avoid disruption to care.

Biweekly

  • Nursery carpets: coordinate biweekly carpet cleaning when rooms are unoccupied; post signage and ensure adequate drying time.

  • Upholstery Care
  • Sanitize upholstery daily using approved products.

Monthly (or As Scheduled)

  • Vents and return grilles: dust and wipe.
  • Showers: descaling and full disinfecting.
  • Cabinets and cupboard fronts: wipe down.
  • Spot-clean wall scuffs; coordinate minor touch-up paint with Facilities.
  • Dryer: clean lint trap housing and inspect vent intake; escalate any concerns.
  • Specialty or quiet rooms: wipe hard surfaces, glass, and high-touch points.
  • Other deep-clean tasks as assigned.

Facilities Support

  • Monitor inventory and restock janitorial supplies; submit purchase requests before levels are low.
  • Set up and break down rooms for events or trainings, including moving light furniture.
