Job Overview:

The Lead Plumber coordinates and is responsible for the overall maintenance, repair, installation and inspection of plumping equipment and systems to meet established standards and safe operating conditions. The Lead Plumber is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors, etc.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma or Completion of Trade School
• Three to five years prior experience in industrial maintenance
• Valid NJ Driver’s License

Preferred:

• Certified Plumber’s license

Schedule:

• Full-Time, Monday-Friday, 7:00AM-3:30PM
• Days

Essential Functions:

• Works with various machine and handheld tools common to the trade; may prepare work form sketches, plans, and specifications in accord with the plumbing code or accepted trade practices
• Assists in the operation and maintenance of heating and air conditioning systems
• Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain the heating, water, gas and drainage systems of the hospital.
• Makes observation reports on general maintenance problems, advises supervisor of conditions requiring attention.
• Performs preventative maintenance inspection on all plumbing fixtures, piping and associated equipment in a technically accepted, safe and efficient manner.
• Replaces defective pipes; solders and caulks leaks and broken pipes.
• Must be flexible to respond occasional emergency and available to for off hours scheduled repair
• Experience to perform breezing, soft solders and pro-press
• Is familiar with the nomenclature, use, and installation of reducing pressure relief, surge, check, float gate, globe, thermostatic, unions, sleeves, bushings, reducers, steam traps, strainers, and other fittings and valves.
• Utilizes skills to perform work as directed by manager or director
• Performs work in any of the skilled trades as a mechanic or as an assistant to a skilled tradesman as required
