Description:
Level I Caregivers provide essential daily support to residents, including assistance with personal care, mobility, meal preparation, companionship, medication administration, transportation to appointments or errands, and behavioral intervention. They help maintain a safe and comfortable environment, ensuring patients' physical and emotional well-being. While they do not handle administrative tasks, they are dedicated to delivering hands-on care and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Administer medications as directed and ensure proper documentation.
- Offer companionship by engaging residents in meaningful conversations and activities to promote emotional well-being.
- Perform housekeeping duties such as laundry, dishwashing, and general tidying to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Prepare and serve meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and resident preferences.
- Support residents with mobility needs, including transferring, repositioning, and walking assistance.
- Observe, monitor, and promptly report any changes in resident behavior, health, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow individualized care plans and accurately document all services provided.
- Provide transportation or accompany residents to medical appointments, errands, and social activities as needed.
- Completion of 15 hours of caregiver training credits prior to the first day of work, with a commitment to obtaining 8 additional credits annually.
- Ability to follow care plans and work effectively under supervision.
- Patience, empathy, and compassion for residents with diverse care needs.
- Dependability and trustworthiness to ensure resident safety and well-being.
- Strong problem-solving and observational skills to recognize and report changes in resident health or behavior.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a care team and ability to receive feedback openly.
- Capability to lift and assist residents with mobility needs (training provided).
- Physical ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lb.
- Work is typically performed in a home setting or residential care facility.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and valid, active insurance.
- Must pass all required background checks and meet state caregiver requirements.
- Must provide a negative communicable disease screening result or proof of a negative test within the last 90 days.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in caregiving, home health, or assisted living
- Experience working with individuals with mental health diagnoses.
