OverviewThe Design Engineer I serves as the vital link between the Design team and Manufacturing, ensuring projects transition seamlessly into finished products. Balancing both big-picture strategy and precise technical details, this role requires a deep understanding of transformational processes to digitally model designs for procurement, planning, and production. Additionally, the Design Engineer critically evaluates component information and proactively addresses issues as they arise, ensuring efficiency and accuracy throughout the development process.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate quotations from both internal and external stakeholders for product costing.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of supporting documentation in the manufacturing data system (e.g., Bills of Materials, Routings).
- Review, refine, and approve CAD data and drawings to ensure clarity and accuracy.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to align manufacturing processes with process documentation, ensuring both are current for legacy and new products.
- Maintain and update Product Data Management (PDM) and Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) data for consistency and accuracy.
- Initiate and implement engineering changes and process updates.
- Assist in updating process documents in coordination with design and manufacturing engineering teams.
- Conduct independent studies and analyses on manufacturing process data to support updates and implementation.
- Perform research on manufacturing processes and materials to drive improvements.
- Lead small project teams focused on enhancing manufacturing processes.

Knowledge and Skills
- A degree or certificate in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- 1-4 years’ experience or equivalent in a manufacturing environment, Manufacturing Engineering, ERP/MRP Systems, etc.
- 3-D CAD experience
- Drafting and GTOL experience
- Attention to detail
- Organized, self-motivated
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Project Management experience
- Proficiency with MS Office tools
