About This Position

Role:

To assist with all activities associated with member lending, account opening, process member transactions and

respond to member needs for information and assistance with their Credit Union business.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

E 40% Corresponds with or interviews loan applicants; prepares necessary documents for approval and

processes approved loan documents for disbursement/filing, ensuring they are in compliance

with Credit Union polices and legal requirements. Makes decisions within loan approval

authority or forwards the loan request to higher levels for decision. Reviews loans for proper

insurance on collateral, taking action to insure uninsured collateral. Takes loan payments.

E 30% Assists members with opening and closing accounts, answering questions about products and

services and resolving problems that are within their authority to resolve. Refers problems that

are beyond their authority to the Branch Manager. Identifies cross-sell opportunities and crosssells

services to members.

E 15% Business development to include but not limited to, proactive activities that increase credit union

profitability and member loyalty.

E 5% Receives and processes members financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan

payments. Sells money orders and gift/travel cards to members. Balances cash drawer and makes

settlement of day's activities.

E 5% Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties including typing, filing, computer input and

answering the telephone.

N 5% Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

1. Consistently follows The North Star Way Service Competencies and Service Standards.

2. Provide friendly, prompt, professional, and accurate service and support to all members and associates by

answering telephone, waiting on members in a timely fashion, and responding to correspondence and

messages within 2 business hours.

3. Meet or exceed assigned loan volume in total dollars produced and overall loan portfolio balance.

4. Ensure all paperwork related to new loans is processed in compliance with relevant regulations and with

zero unresolved errors.

5. Deliver loan decision to member within 30 minutes of completed application.

6. Cross sell loan protection insurance on all eligible loans.

7. Maintain and develop knowledge of current lending policies and procedures.

8. Maintain a 60-day delinquency rate at or below 1% of total loan portfolio.

9. Maintain a charge-off rate of no more than 0.40% of the loan portfolio.

10. Successfully cross sell additional North Star products/services.

11. Maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance.

12. Actively participate in Community and Credit Union Industry activities and events.

13. NMLS is obtained within the first 2 months, FiCEP certification and North Star Way completion within first

6 months and Insurance License within first 9 months.

14. Minimal unplanned absences and tardiness.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience - Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education - (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing,

or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific

skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills - Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for

the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting

cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion,

requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills - Able to operate a ten-key calculator, typewriter, and computer keyboard.
