Job Description: Welder Helper
FLSA Status: Hourly Non-exempt position
Benefits eligibility: 60 days after hire date
Full Time
Reports to: Welder
Job Purpose: Assist Welder in performing pipe or plate welding projects in the field while learning Welder tasks—acts as an apprentice to the Welder
Job Duties:Perform maintenance on equipment as needed for Welder
Perform cleanup duties around Welder’s work area
Other duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent knowledge and experience required. Field experience and knowledge of pipeline construction. Interest in becoming a welder/working through an apprenticeship. Attention to detail, initiative, and reliability.

Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Job Duties:
- Assist welder in all duties required to include:
- Install and verify operation of pipe and fittings
- Repair and/or replace any damaged pipe or steel
- Fabricate and install fittings as needed
- Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair, according to specifications
- Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, or pipe benders
- Assemble or secure pipes, tubes, fittings, or related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering, or threading joints
- Select pipe sizes, types, or related materials, such as supports, hangers, or hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications
- Measure and mark pipes for cutting or threading

The work is performed outdoors on the jobsite where the employee will be exposed to extreme heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment can be extreme on the jobsite.
Work Hours: Work hours are generally a regular work week of 40 hours; however, exact hours to work each day may vary as required.
