About This Position

Opportunity for a passionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join the Centro Esperanza team! CPLC Centro Esperanza offers specialized services for Serious Mental Illness (SMI) populations, focusing on case management and psychiatric services in an outpatient mental health clinic setting for all ages and families.

We take ongoing applications for on-call NPs as well as bringing on a full-time NP at this time!

POSITION SUMMARY
As the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, you will play a vital role in providing quality, trauma-informed services to all clients! You will be responsible for conducting psychiatric evaluations, counseling assessments, medication monitoring and adjustment, and prescriptions. You will provide consultation and often collaborate with a treatment team of professionals for diagnostic education, counseling, and psycho-education.

As the Nurse Practitioner, you will coordinate and assist with other clinic staff in processing medication refill requests and scheduling according to client and program needs, and maintaining the accuracy of electronic and hard copy clinical information to meet established monitoring standards. You will support the clinical and case management treatment team by advocating psychotherapeutic intervention in conjunction with pharmacotherapies, recommending combination therapy when appropriate, assisting with interventions designed to increase client compliance with appropriate medication use, treatment planning, required clinical documentation needed to maintain client eligibility for services.

In this role, you will also support co-occurring disorder approaches by actively engaging clients using motivational enhancement and applying trans-theoretical stages of change. You consider serious mental illness and medication intervention, as appropriate, with persons presenting with substance abuse history, demonstrating understanding of the implications of addiction behavior with the prescription of certain pharmaceuticals.


SPECIALIZATIONS:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner must be able to be organized, have clear and understandable written and oral communication, demonstrate empathy and build positive rapport with the client population served, be knowledgeable about community resources, and adapt well to a changing and high-volume environment.

Pursuing continuing education and credentials relevant to scope of practice will be vital for your role, as well as possessing knowledge of outpatient mental health clinica operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  1. Education /Background:
    • Master’s degree in nursing, current certification by the Arizona Board of Nursing
    • Licensed in the State of Arizona as a Nurse Practitioner.
    • Must possess a current Drug Enforcement Agency certificate.
    • Minimum 2 years experience in the delivery of mental health treatment to Seriously Mentally Ill adults.
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered to meet the qualifications of this position.
  2. Other requirements:
    • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a Level 1 fingerprint card.
    • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, CPR and First Aid certification.
    • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and auto insurance within Arizona.
    • Must be committed to diversity and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required.
