About This Position
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Play Center Lead, the Play Center Attendant independently oversees the delivery, care and pickup of all children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old, is responsible for creating a fun and safe environment for the children. Serves as a team player in all areas of The Center and represents a positive role model for members and the community; uses good communications and customer service skills; uses professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking when performing their duties; uses equipment, materials, and systems according to policies and procedures and practice standards; performs duties using appropriate professional and ethical behavior.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS)- within two weeks of employment.
Automated External Defibrillator (AED)- within two weeks of employment.
Basic First Aid certification- within the first six months after hire.
Preferred: High school graduate or equivalence
Related experience in childcare service
Related experience in customer service
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Demonstrates leadership and organization to maintain a safe environment for a large group of children ranging in age of 6 weeks to 12 years old.
- Ensures all children are checked-in and checked-out of facility software.
- Oversees the delivery, and child security procedures to ensure child(ren) care and pickup by approved guardians(s).
- Monitors and supervises infants, toddlers, and young children to ensure their safety and comfort while parents are utilizing the facility while implementing appropriate structure and activities.
- Requires training and knowledge on working with children that may have learning or physical disabilities while maintaining a fully inclusive space.
- Creates relationships and demonstrates excellent customer service and positive interaction with parents and children to retain members and their children.
- Responsible for maintaining a safe environment at all times. Provides necessary documentation to assure that risk management and safety are addressed throughout the play center area.
- Possesses strong communication skills, which are needed to work well with parents and children, along with the leadership team at The Center.
- Continuously communicates updated policies/procedures to keep parents informed.
- Works closely with Member Services to ensure that all the proper paperwork has been completed regarding childcare and maintains up-to-date child information and continuously communicates necessary and adequate information to parents/guardians.
- Changes diapers as needed following playcenter protocol.
- Inventories supplies and communicates requests for ordering supplies.
- Ensures (also performs duties) the return of all equipment to proper storage area; ensures all equipment is in proper working order; removes any non-functioning equipment and reports appropriately and maintains proper operations.
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing Play Center area including but not limited to toys, tables, chairs, cubbies, countertops, etc. Removes trash and vacuums daily.
- Maintains a daily log of cleaning responsibilities.
- Secures childcare area at end of shift to ensure toys, furnishings, equipment, and supplies are stored in appropriate place.
- Maintains all necessary certifications and trainings.
HIPAA: This position will have access to the following Protected Health Information in order to carry out the duties related to their position at Hays Medical Center based on the following criteria:
Primary – required (routine) to do the job;
Secondary – required for the job, but mostly be exception; and
None – no approved access
