About This Position

Description:

Northpointe Behavioral Health is looking for compassionate individuals and families to provide foster care in a nurturing and therapeutic environment for youth ages 7-11 years old. Under the Treatment Foster Care Oregon (TFCO) model, children with severe emotional and behavioral disorders can live in a family setting and gain ties to their communities as an alternative to institutional, residential, and group care placement centers.

Children within this program depend on foster parents to provide a stable, encouraging environment in which they can thrive and grow. TFCO foster parents are provided with ample resources and training to aid in positive reinforcement strategies and to execute treatment plans set forth by program clinicians. TFCO children and families have a dedicated team consisting of a Behavioral Health Therapist, Wraparound Case Manager, community and life skills coach, and other clinical professionals that are available to assist with the needs of the child and family throughout the duration of placement. Placements typically range from 6-8 months, up to 12 months depending upon each child’s specific needs.

As a TFCO foster parent, you would be responsible for:

· Providing a child with a private bedroom and daily essentials for the length of placement

· The emotional and physical support of the child

· Providing a safe and stable home environment that emphasizes routine and structure

· Monitoring the medical, educational, and therapeutic needs of the child

· Transporting the child to various clinical and/or medical appointments as necessary

Requirements:

To qualify to be a TFCO foster parent, you must:

· Hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable access to transportation

· Have a demonstrated ability to care for and support a child

· Have the ability to mentor, encourage, and support others

· Be able to pass a criminal background check, including fingerprinting
