Come join an amazing team at The Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster (BGCFL).
We are seeking a Social Worker Professional to help us GROW! The ambition for the future of the
organization is to be able to increase BGCFLs positive impact in North Central Massachusetts by increasing the number of youth served. Since 2001, BGCFL has worked in youth development with young people ages 8-18, from many economic, social and family circumstances. In August 2008, the organization consolidated its separate Fitchburg and Leominster clubhouses to a single state-of-the art location on the Fitchburg-
Leominster line and received its charter from the Boys & Girls Club of America that December. It is situated in a former private school on conservation land in a residential settinga unique site for a Boys & Girls Club clubhouse. In addition to the 8 acres owned by the Club, the Doyle Conservation Center (operated by the Trustees of the Reservations) provides more than 160 additional acres on which to play and study. The facility itself is well equipped with numerous classrooms, meeting places, a full gymnasium, and a full Teen Center. The Club provides youth an extra opportunity to practice and reinforce the skills and concepts they learn in school. We offer daily access to a broad range of programs in five Core Program Areas: Health and Life Skills, The Arts, Education & Career Development,
Sports, Fitness & Recreation, and Character & Leadership Development.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
1. Counseling low-to-moderate income (LMI) youth with personal and psychological issues that affect
their performance, behavior, and socialization in school and community.
2. Providing counseling sessions, treatment plans, or workshops as necessary and establishing prevention
programs and intervention plans.
3. Communicating with youth to determine the areas in which they may need assistance or counseling.
4. Assisting staff and parents with behavioral and attitude issues by communicating with youth to find the
causes of their distress.
5. Providing information, when appropriate, to external support services to help youth with economic,
emotional, or physical issues.
6. Assisting, LMI, at-risk, or disabled youth.
7. Communicating with parents, teachers, club staff and administrators to understand youths and their challenges.
8. Maintaining case files and reports to track youths progress and problems.
9. Helping youth and families suffering from abuse, violence, hunger, or homelessness to access
resources like shelters, food banks, and medical care.

RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain oral and written contact with the CEO, Director of Operations, Program Director, and staff
for the purpose of exchanging information, and provide progress reports as needed regarding activities and
planned programs.
External: Maintain oral and written contact with other partner agencies, business leaders, community groups
for the purpose of exchanging best practices and ideas and acting as a referral when necessary.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
A Bachelors or Masters degree in Social Work.
A license and certification to practice Social Work.
Experience in School Social Work may be advantageous.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassion and empathy for patients and youth.
Professionalism and discretion.
Good relationships with relevant social services.

COMPENSATION:
This is a part time position with neg rates according to experience and education.
