About This Position
The Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI) is a community living organization that supports people with developmental disabilities across the life span to live a ‘good life.’ BACI is looking for a Supported Employment Counsellor to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate employment support plans in a variety of work settings designed to meet person served employment outcomes, and life skills goals.
Position: Regular Part-Time Supported Employment Counsellor
Location: Community Based
Rate: $27.54/hr
Hours: 22.5 hours/week Schedule: Wednesday to Friday 8am-3:30pm
Knowledge & Skills:
This position requires the following skills and abilities to perform this role:
- Identifies person served interests, skills, and abilities through the discovery process.
- Develops, with the participation of the person served, ongoing employment support plans. Implements, supports, monitors, evaluates and modifies employment support plans as needed.
- Provides ongoing supports to person served in a variety of work settings. Paid employment.
- Provides reports on person’s served progress to the Employment Manager, other caregivers, and makes recommendations on modifications to employment support plan goals.
- Encourages employers to participate in ongoing informal support.
- Encourages person served to participate in community activities when beneficial.
- Assist employers to work with the person served through problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Liaises with community service providers in order to promote the Supported Employment program.
- The ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently is essential.
- Knowledge of the principles of Person-Centered Thinking and Planning preferred.
- Working knowledge of computers/mobile apps is necessary.

Qualifications for this position include:
- Graduation from a Community College with an appropriate diploma or certificate in Human Services OR an equivalent of education and experience.
- One-year recent related experience.
- A valid unrestricted BC Class 5 Driver’s License required.
This position is open to all candidates and requires union membership. This position requires completion of Criminal Record Search as per the Criminal Record Review Act and up-to-date vaccinations.
