Gastro Assistant RN at Bryan Health – Lincoln, Nebraska

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Gastro Assistant RN assesses, plans, provides and evaluates diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures and GI Lab patient care treatments as needed for all patients.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. Assesses, directs, plans, implements, evaluates and documents patient care and procedures in accordance with established GI Specialties policies, standards and guidelines; supervises and coordinates other assigned health care personnel in the care of patients.

3. Answers telephone calls concerned with patient scheduling, coordination of services or questions regarding procedures with courtesy and accuracy; follows organizational procedures to ensure patient confidentiality.

4. Administers medication, treatments and other nursing services according to physician's instructions, scope of practice and State of Nebraska licensure.

5. Provides information to family members concerning the treatment of patient and maintenance of healthful environment; participates in patient education regarding procedures and health maintenance.

6. Administers and monitors the effect of conscious sedation agents in accordance with physician's orders, hospital policy and state licensure for a Registered Nurse.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act. Certification from the Society of Gastrointestinal Nurses and Associates preferred.

OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:

Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required or obtained within six (6) months of employment.
