About This Position
Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Regional department manager, they supervise technical staff and ancillary personnel and coordinate all patient activities within the responsible modality. Assign work schedules for staff technologists and ancillary personnel. Assure that all patient examinations follow established protocols and demonstrate knowledge of the digital environment. Ensures the correct patient is being imaged per hospital protocol of checking at least two patient identifiers before completing the examination. Reviews patient documents for completeness. Review patient images for technical quality before archiving them to PACS and submitting them to the radiologists for interpretation. Ensure that all examinations have been charged correctly. Perform QA/QC on equipment and supervise all ACR and/or any governing agency standards required for the assigned modality.
Arrange for corrective and preventive maintenance of equipment as required. Prepare monthly reports, as needed. Ensure that quality assurance procedures for equipment are performed and documented. Start IVs and/or administer contrast media. Ensures that area-specific code carts are checked and tested daily. Provide resource assistance for personnel within the area. Perform patient examinations when required. Provide student technologists with the basic procedural concepts within a responsible modality. Function as a liaison between physicians and technologists. Monitor patient volume statistics and/or productivity data. Shares call responsibility for emergency examinations, as needed. Demonstrates appropriate computer skills. It also shows knowledge of the principles of growth and development, can assess data reflective of the patient's status, and interprets the proper information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and provide the required care. Demonstrates knowledge and skill to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Knowledgeable of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice.

Leads staff in a positive work environment
Ordering all imaging items in an accurate and sufficient quantity is required daily.
Accurately enters Lawson data to ensure payment of all bills.
Advances the Imaging department within Forrest Health through leadership, collaboration, and accountability.
Schedules staff to ensure adequate coverage of the department
Actively participates in Hospital functions
. Multi-tasks and prioritizes workload to prevent delays in patient care
Utilizes the ALARA principle on all exams performed.
Actively shields and collimates when applicable.
Has excellent oral and written communication skills.
Troubleshot multiple pieces of Radiology equipment, including but not limited to PACS, RIS, and X-Ray Equipment, by successfully opening help desk tickets and or calling the equipment vendor and recording the log ticket number. The said log ticket will be given to the Supervisor.
Safely maintain the sterile field and assist the Physician with a few errors.
Successfully performs, documents, and charges for EKGs. Identifies patients who present for testing per the organization's procedures to ensure the correct test is performed on the correct customer.
Correctly identify patients who present for testing.
Explains the proper exam preparation to all patients scheduled and answers any questions the patient may have.
Correctly place orders for testing in the hospital’s EMR system, according to Radiant Tip sheets.
Monitor supply levels and order supplies accordingly.
Multitasks and prioritizes workload to prevent delays in patient care.
Works efficiently within Excel and Microsoft Word to accomplish daily tasks
Tolerates physically demanding tasks of moving equipment and patients, utilizing safety measures for oneself and/or the patients to prevent accidents.
Accesses and utilizes EMR to provide competent patient care.
Prints patient CDs and correctly identifies the patient who receives the CD.
Requests outside of film from another facility.
Completes all Radiology consent forms before beginning a procedure and places them in the medical records bin for archiving.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills:
Graduate of an approved AMA school of radiologic technology. Maintain 12 category A CEUs yearly.
Work Experience:
Three years’ work experience as a staff technologist (Required). Two years of Supervisor experience (preferred).
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
Licensed with MS Department of Health (MSRT)
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, ARRT R.T. (R) Radiography
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on the required timeframe below
Basic Life Support Within 30 Days of Employment Required
