About This Position
JOB SUMMARY
The Afterschool Program Support Staff is responsible for planning goal-centered activities designed to help children with disabilities reduce or eliminate the effects of their disability or illness. Staff will plan activities that will help children further develop mobility, social and interpersonal skills, academic skills, motor and perceptual skills, and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Help coordinate the Afterschool program.
- Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with community resources.
- Provide personal and medical care to children attending the Afterschool program.
- Help with waiver billing and other required documentation and paperwork.
- Maintain proper communication with families and schools.
- Maintain and follow cleaning and disease prevention policies as set forth by ADEC, under the guidance from The Center for Disease Control and local Health Department, to mitigate the risk of spreading contagious diseases. This includes cleaning and sterilizing of workspace, materials used during active treatment, end of day cleaning and pick up, and good hygiene. Personal protective equipment will be worn as required and social distancing will be followed as required.

- Knowledge and experience in using sign language preferred, especially for specific caseloads.
- Knowledge of teaching techniques, behavior management, and/or experience working with persons with severe disabilities is desired.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid.
- Ability to function effectively as a team player. Ability to represent ADEC in a variety of public settings.
- Ability to communicate clearly and work cooperatively with clients, staff and community resources.
- Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and a reliable vehicle.
- No evidence of illegal drug use or drug abuse. Must be able to pass a drug screen.
- No evidence of criminal activity involving a dependent population and/or any violent criminal activity.
- Successful completion of all required training both upon hire and annually required per ADEC, CARF and other regulatory agencies. This includes agency training and client specific training.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, such as cloth and/or surgical masks, N95 masks, gloves, gowns, safety glasses, and face shields as needed to mitigate the spread of contagious diseases. Personal protective equipment will be provided by ADEC.
