Job Description

Forward Deployed Product Engineer (Client Facing)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Forward Deployed Product Engineer (Client Facing) based in the United States.

This is a hands-on engineering role at the intersection of software development, healthcare technology, and customer collaboration. You will work directly with health plan and payer technical teams to integrate a healthcare platform into their existing systems and workflows. From discovery and prototyping to implementation and launch, you’ll help turn complex technical requirements into practical, scalable solutions. The role combines software engineering expertise with technical consulting, requiring you to understand customer environments and guide integration decisions. You’ll collaborate closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Implementation teams while helping shape the platform through real-world feedback. This remote-first opportunity offers meaningful ownership and the chance to improve healthcare access and outcomes through technology.

Accountabilities:
  • Support technical discovery: Partner with Sales to understand prospective partners’ architecture, data flows, infrastructure, and technical constraints.

  • Build prototypes and proofs of concept: Demonstrate how the platform can address specific partner use cases and technical requirements.

  • Design and deliver integrations: Connect partner systems using APIs, data feeds, and healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR.

  • Develop integration code: Write production-quality code and configurations using Python, SQL, and other scripting languages to connect partner environments with the platform.

  • Collaborate with partner teams: Work directly with partner engineering, IT, and security teams throughout implementation, testing, and go-live.

  • Troubleshoot production environments: Investigate and resolve data, integration, and performance issues in live partner systems.

  • Translate field insights into product improvements: Share feedback and lessons learned with Product and Engineering teams to improve platform capabilities.

  • Build reusable resources: Document integration solutions, technical patterns, and deployment playbooks to make future implementations more efficient.

  • Support technical sales processes: Assist with security reviews, technical questionnaires, and RFP responses requiring detailed engineering expertise.

  • Drive end-to-end implementation: Take ownership of technical problems from initial discovery through deployment and early partner adoption.

Requirements:
  • Professional experience: At least five years of experience in software engineering, integration engineering, solutions architecture, or forward deployed engineering roles.

  • Programming skills: Strong coding abilities in Python and SQL, along with experience in at least one additional programming language.

  • API and data integration expertise: Hands-on experience building and consuming REST APIs and working with JSON, flat files, and batch data exchange.

  • Cloud experience: Experience working in a major cloud environment such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Customer-facing technical skills: Comfortable working directly with customer engineers and explaining technical concepts and tradeoffs to nontechnical stakeholders.

  • Problem ownership: Demonstrated ability to take ownership of technical challenges and deliver solutions independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.

  • Healthcare data experience: Strongly preferred experience with healthcare interoperability and data standards, including HL7, FHIR, X12 EDI files such as 834 eligibility and 837 claims, or payer and provider systems.

  • Healthcare privacy and security: Working knowledge of HIPAA requirements and secure handling of protected health information (PHI).

  • Communication and collaboration: Ability to work effectively across Sales, Product, Engineering, Implementation, and external partner teams.

  • Travel availability: Willingness to travel to partner sites as needed, approximately 15–20%.

Benefits:
  • Annual compensation: USD $180,000–$220,000 for employment based in Colorado, Nevada, New York, and Washington, DC.

  • Equity: Compensation package may include stock options.

  • Healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, and vision benefits.

  • Financial benefits: Financial wellness benefits and other programs.

  • Paid time off: Generous PTO.

  • Professional development: Stipends for professional development.

  • Wellness: Wellness-related benefits.

  • Remote-first environment: Opportunity to work remotely with a dynamic, collaborative, and mission-driven team.

  • Professional growth: Encouragement to shape your role, expand your skills, and contribute to the organization’s future.

  • Mission-driven work: Opportunity to help improve access to care, close healthcare gaps, and support better health outcomes.
