JOB TITLE: Step-Up Omaha Summer Coach: Career and Life Skills
DUTIES
• Interact with and lead a group of up to 25 youth participants from varied social and
educational backgrounds. Youth will range in age from 14 to 21 years old. Group
leadership includes; participant training, counseling, and supervision as well as daily
record keeping of activities.
• Model appropriate workplace behaviors and skills for youth participants
• Interface with a variety of workforce development partners to include; employers,
community-based partners, parents, mentors, etc.
• Perform career case management and organize integrated services to include the
development of Individual Development Plans in order to access skills and interests and
set goals and make appropriate worksite placements.
• Coordinate and deliver career-based curriculum, programs and daily activities for
assigned youth group.
• Coordinate the development of youth employability skills based on employer requests.
Oversee the work experience process to include job placement and youth retention.
Make regularly scheduled worksite visits in order to monitor the youth placed, foster
business relationships and proactively address any employer concerns and/or questions.
• Coordinate appropriate services for youth with special needs.
• Supervise and approve daily collection and review of intern work hours for payroll
• Accurately review and submit of intern timesheets bi-weekly.
• Organize and maintain written or computerized records and other forms of information
in a systematic process. Organize program data and produce reports as necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• BA in human services, education, social behavior, career guidance, counseling, case
management or related area. (Preferred but not required) Preference will be given to
applicants with previous experience working with youth.
• 3 years of experience working with youth development programs or, any equivalent
combination of training and experience specified above.
REQUIREMENTS
• Possess a valid driver’s license
• Must pass background check and drug test
• This position is 40 hours per week and requires the ability to work a flexible schedule -
with occasional evenings and weekends (notice will be given well in advance)
• Attend all Step-Up coach trainings
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of counseling methods and techniques; human behavior and performance;
medical and mental disabilities of youth served; principles and procedures for training
development and instruction.
• Knowledge of various social media and internet tools that can be used to supplement
and enhance the core career curriculum.
• Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite or G Suite computer programs.
• Knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar, automated office skills
• Knowledge of general office procedures and of the importance of confidentiality as it
pertains to program rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of reasonable ADA accommodations that may be made to enable individuals
with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Ability to develop actions and implement solutions on individual and group levels.
• Knowledge of resources available that may be beneficial to the participant and/or their
family.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee
encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is a
classroom or auditorium setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. This
position may require frequent time constraints and shifting priorities, that may contribute to
physical and mental stress.

OTHER
• This temporary position will begin Monday, May 18, 2026 and end on Friday, August 7,
2026
