Job Description
An Assistant Landscape Manager oversees outdoor space maintenance and development, ensuring aesthetic appeal and environmental sustainability while managing a team and coordinating projects.
Duties:
- Assist the Landscape Manager in planning and executing landscape projects, including construction, planting, and irrigation installation.
- Supervise and coordinate daily landscape maintenance activities such as lawn care, pruning, mulching, and pest control.
- Lead a team of landscapers by providing clear instructions, training, and support to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the health of plants, trees, and turf; identify issues early and implement solutions
- Oversee tree care operations including pruning, removal, and health assessments in accordance with safety protocols
- Manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal watering schedules and troubleshoot issues promptly
- Support gardening and horticultural activities to promote healthy growth and vibrant landscapes
Experience
- Proven experience in landscape maintenance, landscaping projects, or horticulture roles with a focus on outdoor environments 5+ years experience.
- Supervising experience leading teams of landscapers or groundskeepers in commercial or residential settings
- Strong knowledge of lawn care techniques, tree care practices, irrigation systems, and general garden management
- Hands-on experience with construction activities related to landscape installation or renovation projects
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Familiarity with maintenance procedures for various landscaping equipment and tools
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and vendors
Team Coordination: Assist the Landscape Manager in supervising and coordinating the landscaping team to ensure efficient workflow and task completion.
Project Management: Help plan and implement landscape projects, including planting, maintenance, and design execution.
Plant Care: Oversee the care of plants, trees, and shrubs, including watering, fertilization, pest control, and pruning.
Equipment Management: Ensure proper use and maintenance of landscaping equipment and tools, ensuring safety and efficiency on job sites.
Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand their landscaping needs and preferences, providing updates on project progress and addressing any concerns.
Budget Management: Assist in managing budgets for landscaping projects, ensuring cost-effective practices and resource allocation.
Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety regulations and procedures, particularly when handling hazardous materials and operating machinery
