About This Position
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mind Body Therapist provides holistic health services in the health center communities of patients and staff. She/he will work to create a healthy community where members are cared for with a broad approach that addresses the full depth of wellness with support around lifestyle modification. In addition, incumbent will nourish and nurture the health center communities and staff to create an environment of wellness and will be responsible for integrating complementary health and foundational wellness within the health center communities. She/he will work closely with all team members to ensure the effective integration of care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mind Body for Patients
- Promote empirically supported health promotion, and educational services with an emphasis on person centered care.
- The development, implementation, assessment, and evaluation of integrative health and wellness programs.
- Provide holistic health services, stressmanagement,and complementary care education to health centers,patients,and staff. Modalities and programs mayincludeYoga, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, breathing techniques, guided relaxation/ meditation, Reiki, Reflexology, and massage.
- Coordinate with all health care teams (e.g.primary care, nutrition education, physical therapy, nursing, behavioral health, oral health et al) to integrate symptom and stress management techniques and programs that will be offered 1:1 as needed as well as group programs. Said initiatives will ensure patient care encompasses treatment of the patient as a whole person- mind, body,and spirit.
- Collaborates with other members of the team to assess andinitiatebody-mind integration practices for patients with chronic pain and otherstress relateddisorders.
- Must have a creative, innovative,and collaborative approach to developing and implementing programs that meet the needs of individual members and thecommunity as a whole.
Mind Body for Staff
- Coordination of health center team members regarding the planning and facilitation of complementary modality wellness workshops and program initiatives for the experience and education of all staff members, integration into treatment planning as well as direct patient education.
- Explore and connect with complimentary practices in the surrounding area for consideration and potential integration of alternative modalities and practitioners into the center’s practice.
- Guidethe Center’s continuing development of a culture of trauma informed care.
Additional Responsibilities
- Represent the Center with respect to Mind Body and integrative activities in the local community and nationally through conferences,workshopsand other meetings.
- Responsible foradditionalposition developments within the Mind-Body department, including but not limited to development of program description, oversight of hiring process, training,orientationand supervision of said positions. (i.e.interns, volunteers, MB staff, etc.)
- Document visits in the Electronic Health Records
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should possess a diverse range of skills and experience including but not limited to:
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related field,master’sdegree preferred
- Licenses and Professional Certificationsin Yoga or other Mind Body Practices
- 5Years of Experience
Required Skills and Abilities
- Experience withMindfulness Based Stress Reduction or Mindfulness Meditation.
- Prior experience in primary care preferred.
- Experience in program design and implementation
- Desire to work with patients in a designated medically underserved community
- Ability to work collaboratively/transdisciplinary with all health care communities
- Understanding of psychosocial impacts of health outcomes in underserved communities
- Exhibits cultural competency and sensitivity
Other Qualifications
- Ability to pass required backgroundscreenings.
- Current valid CPR Certificationisrequired.
- Maintaincurrent validapplicable position credentials.
Lifting Requirements
LIGHT – Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The use of arm and/or leg control requires force greater than sedentary, but workers still sit the majority of the time.
