Pay Range
This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.
Position Overview:
The purpose of the Maintenance Supervisor's role is to oversee the maintenance department responsible for all equipment, property, buildings, and facilities within a manufacturing plant. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for improving Asset Care & Reliability (AC&R) processes throughout the facility. The incumbent in this position will also be responsible for supervising maintenance personnel and supporting the operations of production, shipping, and safety departments.
Your Day-to-Day:
- The job requires that the employee be able to work safely and follow safety rules. Employee must be dependable, work independently, able to follow instructions and directions according to established operating procedures, and perform the following duties while cooperating with all levels within the organization.
- Act as technical expert in regard to mechanical equipment.
- Manage a staff of 7 hourly maintenance employees. Responsible for payroll, performance evaluations, hiring, and terminations.
- Supervise, set direction, and delegate daily work of assigned hourly mechanical and electrical employees to support the plant goals related to safety, environment, and production.
- Ensure the maintenance team works safely and in compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Mentor and motivate direct reports providing comprehensive performance feedback, training and development, and appropriate disciplinary action as required; perform regular performance check-ins with direct reports.
- Minimize asset downtime, maximize output, and minimize spend through optimization of preventative maintenance procedures and schedules.
- Identify and drive acquisition of critical spares and set up in SAP.
- Collaborate with staff from other departments in the delivery of plant and department operating objectives.
- Develop/enhance Asset Care & Reliability (AC&R) processes to drive increased productivity and decrease machine down time. Develop AC&R metrics to measure results and recommend/make changes as required.
- Work proactively to improve the equipment, property, buildings, and facilities. Prioritize projects and recommend improvements to Plant Management.
- Foster a positive collaborative troubleshooting environment within the maintenance team and with other departments.
- Maintain strict compliance with all financial, legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements as they relate to areas in the scope of the maintenance team.
- May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team:
- High School/Technical School diploma with a minimum of 10 years of manufacturing experience in a mechanical and/or electrical maintenance role
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field preferred with a minimum of 5 years' experience managing an industrial maintenance hourly workforce
- Demonstrated leadership skills with customer service mindset
- Experience in preventative and predictive maintenance with demonstrated success in increasing equipment reliability
- Solid knowledge of safe work practices and OSHA requirements and demonstrated ability to maintain a safe work environment with direct reports.
- Working knowledge of plant systems with the ability to troubleshoot and implement corrective actions
- Solid understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, air compressor systems, cutting/welding techniques, metal fabrication, PLCs, and electrical systems.
- General knowledge of mobile equipment repair, A/C and heating systems, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems.
- Must be self-directed and highly detail-orientated
- Must be very organized with solid written and verbal communication
- Working knowledge and understanding of SAP or ERP systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Minimal travel required (0 – 10 days per year).
- Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility; may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
