About This Position
Summary:
The Mental Health Tech provides direct patient care of psychiatric patients under the supervision of the Registered Nurse. Facilitates groups as assigned. Monitors assess the current mental status and psychiatric symptoms of behavioral medicine patients and make appropriate interventions. Assists in ADL’s, supervises meals and passes trays. Obtains vital signs. Assists other staff in milieu management. Maintains documentation on the patient charts. Additionally, this role involves Protected Health Information.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, or mental health field.
- Other fields of study with one or more years of mental health experience.
- Group facilitation skills, knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and treatments.

Required Length and Type of Experience:
Behavioral Medicine experience. Two years’ experience in an inpatient setting is preferred.
Required Licensure or Certification:
BLS certified
Crisis Intervention, CPI within 6 months of hire.
Required Physical and Environmental Demands:
This job requires the ability to walk six to eight-hour shifts and to lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs. This job also requires that an individual be able to work under periods of high stress and in a consistently fast-paced environment.
