Job Description
Responsible for day to day operation and supervision of an assisted living residence.
Coordinates with Executive Director activities of administration, resident care, marketing, food service, and
maintenance staff.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following as delegated by Executive Director:
1. Oversees and ensures the recruitment and retention of qualified staff throughout
the residence, as evidenced by good morale, enthusiasm, team spirit, and
dedication to the residents and their families.
2. Provides direct supervision of all residence management and indirect supervision
of all residence staff; to include coaching, counseling, and performance
evaluations.
3. Conducts weekly residence management meetings and monthly total staff
meetings.
4. Motivates employees though staff appreciation, recognition, and incentive
programs. Promotes positive employee relations and resolves grievances.
5. Reviews monthly staffing schedules to assure staff resources are managed and
scheduled efficiently to meet resident needs and according to budget.
6. Assigns duties and examines work for conformance to policies and procedures.
7. Maintains and facilitates open lines of communication between Board of
Directors, management, and residence staff.
8. Monitors expenses on a regular basis and prepares monthly variance reports.
9. Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required by company policy or
Federal/State regulations. This includes payroll, occupancy, budget variance, etc.
10. Maintains outreach and education with the community to ensure positive
relationships with community resources.
11. Participates in residence functions, including family socials and open houses.
12. Oversees the resident admission process to assure required documentation is
completed in a timely manner and in accordance with established policy and
procedure.
13. Oversees the healthcare management of the residents in accordance with company
policy.
14. Oversees company policy regarding administration of medication. Assist nursing
personnel in staff training and insures frequent audits are performed on
medication sheets.
15. Shares on call duties as required.
16. Ability to effectively communicate in English and understand and follow written
and oral instructions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages subordinate supervisor(s) who supervise resident care, marketing, food service
and maintenance staff. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and
evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the
company’s policies and applicable laws. General responsibilities include planning,
assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining
employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
B.A. or B.S. from 4-year College or university; or one to two years related experience
and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience. Familiarity with Microsoft
Windows 95, Microsoft Office, and E-mail (Microsoft Outlook of Exchange preferred,
but not required). Basic typing skills essential. Valid drivers license necessary. Must be
able to travel as required by job responsibilities.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business
correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and
respond or questions from groups of managers, employees, clients, customers, and the
general public. Ability to effectively communicate in English.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions,
proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of
basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
diagram form and deal with several abstracts and concrete variables.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Must have a valid driver’s license. ALF Core certification training within 3 months of
hire (if not already attained). LNS/ECC certification, if applicable.
