About This Position
Job purpose
The Material Handler is responsible for moving, staging, and organizing materials throughout the facility to support production and warehouse operations. This role ensures materials are available in the right place, at the right time, in the right condition. Material Handlers use forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to safely handle materials while maintaining accurate records and following all safety and food safety protocols.
Duties and responsibilities
- Move, stage, and store raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and related equipment safely
- Label and document material movement per inventory control procedures
- Conduct equipment checks and report maintenance needs
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area
- Follow daily instructions and adjust to changing production or warehouse priorities
- Participate in preshift meetings and team huddles
- Model safe behavior and follow all safety protocols, including PPE use
- Perform additional tasks as needed to support operations
- Must be available for flexible scheduling, including weekends and holidays
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of forklift experience required (Many roles involve stand-up forklift operation; experience with stand-up trucks is a strong advantage but not required for all positions)
- Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.
- Ability to work and accommodate changing deadlines with a focus on organizational skills and initiative.
- Ability to maintain high levels of CandyCo requirements.
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- Comfortable using basic warehouse systems, tools, and procedures
- The role requires the ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing
- Bilingual Preferred (Spanish)
Working conditions
- Must be able to work any/all shifts as assigned or required
- Must be able to work overtime as necessary, including Holidays and/or weekends as required
Physical requirements
- Preshift stretch and exercises to be performed
- Hair restraint, beard net (if needed), and Safety gloves where warranted
- Lifting at times of up to 50 lbs. without assistance and standing for most of a shift
