Maintenance Technician – Repairman at G-3 Chickadee Purchaser LLC – Akron, Ohio

G‑3 Chickadee—formerly part of Goodyear Chemical—is undergoing a major transformation. As a newly independent, Private Equity–backed organization, we are modernizing our infrastructure, implementing new systems (SAP, MES, cybersecurity), and building a strong operational foundation for continued growth.

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, to be responsible for all of the process mechanic and repairman work supporting the R&D operations in Akron, OH at the Archwood facility. This includes reactors, pumps, tanks and all other supporting equipment.

Shift: 6:30AM – 02:30PM, opportunity for overtime

What You'll Do

• Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, reactors, and other critical production equipment (lubrication, oil changes, inspections).
• Troubleshoot and complete mechanical repairs to maintain safe, reliable plant operations.
• Rebuild and service pumps, gearboxes, seals, and bearings on key processing equipment.
• Support equipment installation, assembly, and mounting for new and existing systems.
• Maintain process exhaust fans, sight glasses, and equipment guarding.
• Assist with equipment inspections and major maintenance work, including large equipment openings.
• Fabricate or weld support components as needed.
• Operate a forklift and other material handling equipment to support maintenance activities.

What You'll Bring

Required

• High School diploma
• 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and rigging

Preferred

• Experience operating shop and maintenance equipment such as band saws, drill presses, and grinders
• Familiarity with small-scale reactors and related support equipment preferred
• Working knowledge of glycol and steam systems preferred
• Journeyman certification preferred
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment
