United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring a Staff Accountant, Grants, to join our team. As a Staff Accountant, Grants you will support grants, campaign revenue transactions, and other accounting functions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Key Duties and Responsibilities - Grant Accounting and Budget Management

  • Manage participant, tuition, and grant billing processes across multiple systems, including ProCare, Financial Edge, SAMIS, Child Plus, and Andar.
  • Enter and verify billing data to ensure accuracy of accounts, grant invoices, and donor receivables. Prepare and submit timely monthly invoices to governmental and non-governmental grantors, ensuring required documentation and accurate expense inclusion.
  • Maintain accurate year-to-date grant reports and utilization analyses.
  • Prepare grant budgets, budget modifications, and proposal support materials.
  • Enter and update grant budgets in financial systems within required timeframes.
  • Prepare actual-versus-budget analyses for CFE, CAIT, and other grants.
  • Record monthly grant activity, including indirect costs, through journal entries.
  • Facilitate grant monitoring visits and support funder compliance requirements.
  • Prepare CFE Demo School annual tuition statements and oversee distribution.
  • Reconcile subsidiary systems and billing worksheets to the financial system on a monthly basis.
  • Ad-hoc requests from CFAO, VP of Finance, or Assistant Controller.
  • Assist in all areas of monthly close, including preparing journal ledger entries, account reconciliation, preparing financial statements, and variance analysis.

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or equivalent experience.

Experience Requirements: Two to three years’ accounting experience.

Technology Requirements: Intermediate Microsoft Suite. Knowledge of modern web browsers. Proficient in Excel. Experience in improving processes leveraging technology.

Other Essential Knowledge/Skills: Excellent communication and customer service skills, particularly adept at handling sensitive issues; ability to work under pressure, and must be detail-oriented. Must possess good management and leadership skills.

Contacts: Internal. Communicate with all levels of the organization to exchange information, coordinate projects, solve problems, and negotiate solutions. External. Communicate with volunteers, donors, vendors, and UW agencies to exchange information, coordinate projects, and cultivate relationships.
