Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven Finance Analyst II to support both our FP&A and Program Finance functions within a complex aerospace, defense, and government contracting environment. This dual-function role partners closely with program managers, business development, and senior finance leadership to deliver accurate financial reporting, rigorous program cost management, and insightful analysis that drives operational and strategic decisions. The ideal candidate brings a solid understanding of government contract structures and a track record of supporting EAC/ETC processes and variance analysis.
Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting and forecasting cycles, including consolidation of inputs across business units.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support planning, scenario analysis, and long-range forecasting.
- Prepare executive-level financial dashboards and management reports; translate complex data into clear narratives for senior leadership.
- Analyze variances between actuals, budget, and forecast; identify root causes and present actionable insights.
- Coordinate with department heads to gather and validate operational assumptions for the annual operating plan (AOP).
- Support month-end close activities including journal entry review, accrual validation, and P&L reconciliation.
- Manage Estimate at Completion (EAC) and Estimate to Complete (ETC) processes across a portfolio of active programs; ensure accuracy and timeliness of submissions.
- Monitor program cost performance against baseline plans; conduct variance analysis and collaborate with program managers to develop corrective action plans.
- Support contract setup, funding management, and revenue recognition in compliance with ASC 606 and applicable FAR/DFAR requirements.
- Maintain working knowledge of contract types (CPFF, FFP, T&M) and apply appropriate cost accounting practices for each.
- Prepare program financial status reports (FSRs), monthly cost performance reports (CPRs), and other deliverables required by government customers or internal stakeholders.
- Interface with program management, contracts, and supply chain to ensure cost and schedule integration and early identification of financial risk.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with EAC/ETC processes and cost variance analysis in a government contracting environment.
- Working knowledge of contract types: CPFF, FFP, and T&M.
- Strong Excel skills required; experience with financial planning tools (Hyperion, Adaptive, or equivalent) preferred.
- Familiarity with FAR/DFAR cost principles and government contract compliance.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to handle competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint, SAP, or similar ERP systems used in defense/government contracting.
- Exposure to Earned Value Management (EVM) or EVMS-certified programs.
- CPA, CMA, or CDFM designation (or active pursuit thereof).
- Experience supporting DCAA audits or incurred cost submissions.
- Cleared or clearable; active security clearance a plus.
- Financial Acumen — Deep understanding of cost accounting, program finance principles, and financial reporting standards applicable to government contracting.
- Analytical Rigor — Ability to build models, stress-test assumptions, and identify trends and anomalies in large data sets.
- Communication — Confidence presenting financial results and variance narratives to non-financial program managers and senior executives.
- Collaboration — Cross-functional partner who builds trusted relationships with program management, contracts, and operations teams.
- Ownership — Self-starter who takes initiative, follows through on commitments, and holds quality of output to a high standard.
Experience
- 3–6 years of progressive finance experience, with exposure to both FP&A and program/project finance.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
