***PLEASE NOTE - This is an on-site role, meaning all work must be performed at our Victor, NY location rather than remotely.***


POSITION TITLE: CAD/CAM Administrator

SHIFT HOURS: 8:00am to 5:00pm

LOCATION: LSI Solutions in Victor, NY

SALARY RANGE: $75,000 to $90,000

JOB SUMMARY: This position will carry multiple roles within the IT Department. Primary functions will include acting as the company’s subject matter expert in all things CAD CAM, the administration for all related software, along with development and maintenance of CAD CAM standards. Performs CAD CAM database maintenance and administers the Autodesk Vault system. Maintains licensing and updates for all CAD CAM related software. IT Support Functions will include providing technical support, advice, and assistance with computer hardware and software system problems. Provide onsite support to modify, install, clean, and repair computer software and hardware. (i.e. desktops, laptops, tablets, and printers).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

CAD/CAM Administrator I

  • Provide basic user support for CAD/CAM applications and engineering software. Assist with Autodesk Vault file management activities.
  • Support CAD workstation configuration and deployment.
  • Assist with CAD/CAM software installations, updates, and licensing.
  • Troubleshoot basic CAD/CAM and workstation issues.
  • Assist with maintaining CAD standards documentation.
  • Provide support for file translation and interoperability between CAD systems.
  • Assist with drafting standards compliance reviews.
  • Provide desktop support for engineering teams as needed.

CAD/CAM Administrator II

  • Administer Autodesk Vault file management for CAD/CAM files.
  • Provide training on CAD file management practices and Vault usage.
  • Support CAD/CAM application updates, patches, and upgrades.
  • Assist with CAD file migrations and system upgrades.
  • Maintain CAD workstation standards and configurations.
  • Troubleshoot advanced CAD/CAM application issues.
  • Support CAD data interoperability and translation processes.
  • Maintain CAD/CAM licensing.
  • Contribute to drafting standards development and compliance.
  • Provide engineering desktop support when required.

CAD/CAM Administrator III

  • Administer and maintain the Autodesk Vault environment.
  • Lead CAD/CAM software upgrades, migrations, and system changes.
  • Develop and maintain company CAD/CAM standards.
  • Ensure interoperability between CAD/CAM platforms.
  • Evaluate and recommend new CAD/CAM tools, platforms, and add-ons.
  • Maintain CAD/CAM licensing and software lifecycle management.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for CAD/CAM users.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and IT teams.
  • Support CAD/CAM and ERP integration initiatives.
  • Maintain relationships with CAD/CAM vendors and support partners.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the selection of processes, materials, and vendors relating to the CAD CAM environment.
  • Support evaluation of and recommend new processes, software and equipment relating to CAD CAM environment.
  • Good understanding of computer hardware including types of processors, types of memory and other internal components of computer systems.
  • Research new software for CAD/CAM and ERP integration
  • Creation of and roll-out for training syllabi and classes, technical presentations, and reports.
  • As needed, review drawings and DCR’s for standards and vault status.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

CAD/CAM Administrator I:

  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field
  • 0–2 years of CAD/CAM support or drafting experience

CAD/CAM Administrator II:

  • Associate degree with 3–5 years related experience
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with 2–3 years experience

CAD/CAM Administrator III:

  • Associate degree with 5–8 years experience
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with 4–6 years experience


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

CAD/CAM Administrator I

  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD or Inventor
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills

CAD/CAM Administrator II

  • Proficiency with Autodesk Vault
  • Strong experience with Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of CAM software
  • Understanding of machining and fabrication workflows
  • Experience supporting engineering environments

CAD/CAM Administrator III

  • Expert proficiency with Autodesk Vault
  • Advanced proficiency with Inventor and 3D CAD systems
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing workflows and CAM processes
  • Experience managing CAD standards and data governance
  • Ability to lead system implementations and migrations
