Lead Technician- Sterile Processing at Southeastern Health – Lumberton, North Carolina

POSITION SUMMARY: The Lead Technician for Sterile Processing is expected to be knowledgeable and able to perform the duties as Sterile Processing Technician I & II with extensive knowledge regarding the processes used for the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging of surgical instruments. Lead Tech will collaborate with Operating Room (inclusive of Main OR, CVOR, OB and inpatient procedural areas) personnel to ensure specialty trays and instruments are managed and ready in timeliness for cases. In addition, the Lead Technician for Sterile Processing will facilitate the incoming, processing and distribution of instrumentation coming from the Ancillary areas of the organization (Clinic areas)The Lead Technician will be in a Mentorship role, expectations to facilitate training for department staff on appropriate methods of dissemble, clean, assemble and test specialty surgical instrumentation for proper functioning, including ability to differentiate single-use items and reusable items. Collaborates with Department leadership team teaching/orienting new hires and function as a resource person for the other staff. Expectations to collaborate on development of in-services for SPD staff as well as ‘partners’ (those utilizing sterile instruments).

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Required: High school graduate or equivalent plus 2 years' experience with knowledge of central sterile processes. Graduate of an

accredited Surgical Technologist Program or Sterile Processing Program.

Preferred: Knowledge of Censitrac system (willing to train)

ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Basic computer knowledge. A working knowledge of medical terminology. Extensive knowledge regarding processes of decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging and surgical instrumentation.
