Registered Nurse - Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum

POSITION PURPOSE
The Labor Delivery Recovery Postpartum (LDRP) Registered Nurse position is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to patients in a friendly and supportive environment. MINIMUM MANDATORY qualifications
Experience:
  • A minimum of one (1) year previous nursing experience is preferred, but new graduates are welcome.
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Current and valid nursing license in the State of New Mexico or compact state.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Adherence to Holy Cross Medical Center (HCMC) policies surrounding patient safety, infection control and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in dealing with a variety of individuals.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused and adaptable to the dynamic needs of a rural healthcare setting.
  • A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. within one (1) year of hire.
  • Competency validation in Fetal Monitoring required. Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Basic Fetal Monitoring to be completed during orientation; AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within six (6) months (class required every two (2) years).
Preferred qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • National Certification Corporation (NCC) Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) or relevant specialty and Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • At least six (6) months previous experience on a medical/surgical unit in an acute care facility.
  • At least two (2) years as a LDRP or Labor & Delivery nurse in a hospital environment.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish languages.
