Sports Coordinator at The Young Men's Christian Association of Stevens – Stevens Point, Wisconsin

General Function:

The Sports Coordinator is responsible for the supervision of youth and adult sports. This includes planning, developing, administrating, expanding, and evaluating programs and provide a safe environment for all participants. Also, responsible for hiring, scheduling, and training coaches.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience in sports or education in P.E. or a related field.
• Familiarity with a variety of sports.
• Experience communicating and working with youth and their parents.
• Strong organizational skills, effective time management, and flexible schedule.
• Experience with supervising staff and other administrative procedures
• Demonstrate leadership qualities including motivation, enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity.
• Have an understanding of sports rules and equipment
• Completion of Y-required certification and trainings

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position requires employees to observe/evaluate groups of youth/staff by sight, sound, and active interaction. Must be able to easily move through all program areas and able to demonstrate skills or spot youth using equipment. Must be able to routinely lift, carry and load equipment, furnishings, and program supplies (up to 50 pounds).

Essential Functions:

Youth and Adult Sports Classes:

• Recruitment, scheduling, training, supervision and evaluation of all staff.
• Development, promotion, and evaluation of youth and gymnastics programs including long-range goals and lesson plans.
• Assist with YMCA special events as requested.
• Manage volunteers
• Facilitate staff meetings and in-service trainings for coaches, instructors, and officials.
• Abides by the Stevens Point Area YMCA policies and procedures.
• Maintain communication with staff and youth/parents through written and oral communications
• Oversees and adjusts programming, facilities, equipment and services provided as needed.
• Perform any other duties as requested by the Aquatics & Sports Director or CEO.
