About the Role:

The Clinical Therapist - Outpatient is a licensed behavioral health professional responsible for delivering individual, group, and family therapy services within a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented treatment setting. This role includes conducting diagnostic assessments, developing and updating treatment plans, coordinating care, and ensuring high-quality documentation aligned with state, federal, and payer standards.

The Clinical Therapist functions as a collaborative, engaged member of the multidisciplinary team and plays a key role in supporting client safety, stabilization, and long-term recovery outcomes.

General Description

Indiana Treatment Centers – Decatur County is seeking a compassionate, skilled Outpatient Clinical Therapist to join our multidisciplinary treatment team. This role provides direct clinical services to individuals receiving outpatient behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment, supporting recovery through evidence-based, person-centered care.

The Outpatient Clinical Therapist is responsible for assessing client needs, developing individualized treatment plans, providing therapeutic services, and supporting client engagement and retention throughout treatment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct intake screenings and comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments
  • Develop individualized, person-centered treatment plans in collaboration with clients
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy using evidence-based practices, including CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma-Focused CBT
  • Maintain a caseload and actively support client engagement and retention
  • Complete accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency standards, payer requirements, and regulatory guidelines, including DSM-5 diagnoses
  • Coordinate care with internal team members and external community providers as needed
  • Provide progress reports to courts, probation departments, families, and referral sources when appropriate
  • Advocate for clients and their families while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Participate in clinical supervision, staff meetings, and in-service trainings
  • Complete required annual trainings to maintain licensure and professional competency
  • Adhere to all organizational policies and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Therapist or Clinical Director
Qualifications (Indiana-Specific)
  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related behavioral health field required
  • Active Indiana licensure required, including one or more of the following:
    • LCSW – Licensed Clinical Social Worker
    • LMHC – Licensed Mental Health Counselor
    • LMFT – Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
    • LCAC – Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor
  • Associate licensure (LSW, LMHCA, LMFTA) may be considered with appropriate supervision, where permitted by program and payer requirements
  • Experience providing outpatient behavioral health and/or substance use disorder treatment preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Indiana documentation, scope of practice, and ethical standards
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 60 days of hire
