The Adjunct Professor member in the School of Arts & Sciences is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in assigned courses while supporting the academic mission of the University. This role involves teaching undergraduate courses in disciplines such as humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, or related fields, fostering student engagement, and promoting critical thinking and academic excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned undergraduate courses in accordance with approved curriculum and course objectives.
  • Develop and deliver engaging lectures, discussions, and instructional materials.
  • Utilize appropriate teaching methods, technologies, and learning platforms (e.g., Canvas or other LMS).
  • Maintain regular communication with students regarding course content, expectations, and performance.
  • Provide timely feedback on assignments, exams, and coursework.
  • Hold office hours or be available to students as required.
  • Evaluate student performance using established grading criteria.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, grades, and academic progress.
  • Submit final grades and required reports within established deadlines.
  • Adhere to University policies, academic standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure course delivery aligns with departmental and institutional expectations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records in accordance with FERPA guidelines.

Education

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline within the Arts & Sciences (e.g., English, Biology, History, Sociology, Mathematics, etc.).
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
