About This Position
Summary: As an Automation Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining highly automated production equipment within our advanced EV battery manufacturing facility. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of automation systems while performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting to support continuous production. Responsibilities: Operate and oversee automated equipment in accordance with operational manuals and safety standardsClassify and respond to alarms (minor/major), resolving issues directly on-site when possiblePerform immediate safety checks and shut down equipment when necessaryConduct routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance (cleaning, lubrication, part replacement)Identify recurring issues and collaborate with engineers/technicians to reduce unnecessary alarmsRecord and maintain detailed logs of equipment operation, alarms, maintenance activities, and downtimeSupport troubleshooting of automation systems (PLC, sensors, robots, etc.) and escalate as neededFollow established SOPs for equipment care, safety compliance, and clean room requirementsUphold 5S3R standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain / Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container)Participate in cross-training, mentoring, and team meetings to support continuous improvementPerform additional duties as assigned Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; Vocational Certificate or Associate’s Degree preferredWillingness to work flexible shifts (Day or Night shift, 8–12-hour schedule)Experience: 1+ year of manufacturing, automation equipment operation, or technical production work preferredAutomotive battery or secondary cell production experience a plusAt least 1 year of continuous work history with a single employer in the last 5 yearsSkills: Ability to classify and respond to equipment alarms effectivelyBasic understanding of automation systems (PLCs, sensors, robots, etc.)Competence with computer systems and ability to complete production/maintenance logsStrong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environmentPhysical Requirements:Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for a period of up to 12 hoursSafety glassesSteel-toed shoesnitrile glovesear protectionclean room suitMust be able to do the following repeatedly for a period of up to 12 hoursLift/push/pullStoop, twist, bendReach overheadSit and/or stand Use of hands and fingers to perform job function Why You'll Love Working Here At HL-GA, we believe great work deserves great rewards.
