About This Position

About this role

The VP of Last Mile is the strategic architect of our delivery ecosystem, bridging our physical operation to Veho’s marketplace – building seamless and delightful experiences for the end consumer. As the leader of this team, you will lead the "BizTech" engine that powers our core value proposition: ensuring every parcel is routed efficiently, every driver is empowered to succeed, and every customer experience raises the bar. You will synchronize marketplace dynamics with algorithmic routing to build the most reliable, most efficient, and most scalable last-mile network in the industry.

What success looks like:

  • Build a compelling long-term vision: Build a long term vision that’s compelling and gives your team incentive to run through walls, understanding that we will naturally pivot over time.
  • Establish an attainable mid-term roadmap: Ensure that our marketplace effortlessly handles relentlessly increasing scale as we both expand into new markets and grow our existing markets.
  • Balance marketplace efficiency and reliability: Achieve Cost goals while maintaining Veho’s best-in-class On Time Delivery. No false trade-offs.
  • Build trust with customers, driver-partners, and clients: Further elevate the Veho experience to ensure it remains best in class within the industry through tech and ops innovation and execution.
  • Elevate your team: Last Mile, Product, Operations, and Data Science teams are working in tandem seamlessly on a shared roadmap and toward common goals. Team members have clarity into what success looks like and how they can grow.
  • Align across teams: Partner closely with Operations, Commercial, and Finance organizations to remove blockers, solve for global optimization, and enable growth and experimentation.
  • Raise the bar from seamless to delightful: Be at the leading edge of Veho building differentiating and delightful experiences primarily for consumers but for drivers as well.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driver Marketplace Operations + Product: owns driver acquisition, marketplace balance, route pricing, and how the marketplace mechanism functions
  • Route Success Product: owns on-route experience, geocoding, access issues, and other similar geospatial problem spaces
  • Core Route Building Product: owns approach to how we build routes and the route building algorithm
  • Customer and Driver-Partner Support: owns approach to and execution of Customer and Driver-Partner Support, including offshore and BPO operations

Required Experience:

  • The successful candidate should have deep and hands-on knowledge working in tech, product management and operations environments.
  • Experience owning and managing a large (>$50M) P&L or budget; ability to manage and deeply understand tradeoffs both within Last Mile and the broader business
  • Understanding of the practical realities of working with independent contractors; how to drive toward decisions when business and legal outcomes must be contemplated
  • Prior roles have involved some component of territory management and rapid market expansion
  • Managed or closely partnered with customer support or similar teams
  • Deep expertise in the complex unit economics of a marketplace business, ideally with a gig economy component.

Compensation:
$270,000 to $300,000 range
