Job Summary:
This role requires the ability to work independently and serve as a resource within the Livingston County community by recruiting participants for the Peer Training Academy, delivering a multi-week training curriculum on relevant topics, conducting outreach to potential employers, and providing individual support and follow-up to participants to help them secure employment.
Primary Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
- Recruit participants for the Peer Training Academy through community outreach and engagement within Livingston County
- Register new participants for the academy.
- Deliver a multi-week training curriculum on relevant topics.
- Assist participants with identifying and accessing educational resources.
- Provide support and follow-up to academy participants throughout the training process and after completion.
- Conduct outreach to potential employers to identify job opportunities
- Maintain appropriate records and complete paperwork in a timely manner.
- Comply with HIPPA regulations.
Requirements: Requirements
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required, Associate's degree preferred
- Minimum two years’ experience providing education support preferably in a mental health setting.
- Experience and knowledge of the public mental health system.
- MUST have valid NYS Certified Peer Specialist (NYSPS) certification
- Use one’s personal lived experience in role modeling recovery and providing hope for others.
- Reliable transportation and valid NYS driver’s license required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and connection with community resources.
- Group facilitation
- Ability to maintain organized electronic health records for program statistics.
- Knowledge and understanding of virtual meeting software.
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to prioritize and organize a variety of work assignments in a busy environment.
- Demonstrated strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must demonstrate sensitivity, respect, and competency with diverse backgrounds, social identities and practices of community members.
