The Senior Accountant is a key management position tasked with overseeing advanced governmental accounting functions in Purchasing, Revenue, Accounts Payable, and Payroll. This role involves ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and reports within these areas.

In addition to primary accounting responsibilities, the Senior Accountant leads and participates in critical projects such as the preparation of the annual budget, financial audits, and the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. This position also includes supervising and mentoring lower-level staff members to support their professional development and ensure the effective implementation of departmental tasks.

The City of Hesperia is seeking an experienced accountant who can exercise independent judgment while contributing effectively to the Finance Division. The successful candidate will be adept at working independently with minimal supervision and managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong initiative, accountability, and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring a high level of accuracy in their final work product.

Experience:

• Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in governmental accounting

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance or a closely related field with major course work in accounting.

• Certified Public Accountant, Certified Managerial Accountant, and/or Certified Internal Auditor designations are highly desirable
