Job Summary:

The primary role of this entry-level union position is to work under the direction of the Plant Manager and Shop Manager as a crew member. As a Grounds Person, you are responsible for all duties involving plant operations and maintenance.

Essential Functions:

1. Follow all Company Safety Policies and Procedures as well as Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations and guidelines. Support business activities, objectives, and programs.
2. Arrive to work at time scheduled. Upon start of work be prepared with proper PPE.
3. Work in a hands-on construction environment.
4. Help prepare/stage materials, tools for plant maintenance projects.
5. Follow Manager's instruction to monitor plant operation throughout the day.
6. Communicate using two-way radios and hand signals.
7. Maintain proper care of tools and equipment.
8. Climb ladders and work at elevations while maintaining safe work practices.
9. Perform Daily Workplace Exams of working areas.
10. Ability to meet established deadlines.
11. Check-in and out with Manager before leaving work/leaving work area for any reason.
12. Notify Manager of any upcoming scheduled time off, appointments, etc.

Requirements, Education and Experience:

1. High School Diploma or GED, preferred

2. Proficient verbal and written English

3. Legal right to work in the U.S.

4. Prior MSHA training/experience preferred

5. Experience with Stick/Mig welding preferred

6. MA Hoisting license preferred

Travel:

Position may require up to 20% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the work region to other work locations.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This position works outdoors in hot, humid and/or inclement weather. Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 50 lb. or more. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
