About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Preconstruction Estimator to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a key part in shaping project success from the earliest stages by developing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project requirements, and supporting strategic preconstruction efforts.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical estimating expertise with a collaborative mindset and a passion for delivering value-driven solutions. Working closely with project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients, you will help evaluate project feasibility, identify opportunities and risks, and contribute to winning project pursuits.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; equivalent industry experience may be considered.
- 3+ years of construction estimating or preconstruction experience.
Experience preparing detailed estimates across multiple project phases.
Proficiency with estimating software such as ProEst, Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar platforms.
Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and digital construction technologies.
- Knowledge of commercial, residential, industrial, or infrastructure construction projects.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations.
Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE), Associate Constructor (AC), or similar credentials.
Experience supporting design-build, integrated project delivery (IPD), or alternative delivery methods.
Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills with subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed conceptual, schematic, design development, and final construction cost estimates.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to identify scope requirements and potential cost impacts.
- Perform comprehensive quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Partner with project teams to develop budgets, validate assumptions, and maintain alignment throughout the preconstruction process.
- Identify project risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
- Support constructability reviews and provide recommendations to improve project efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Maintain and update estimating databases, unit costs, and historical pricing information.
- Track market conditions, labor trends, material pricing, and industry developments to ensure estimate accuracy.
- Assist with proposal development, bid submissions, and client presentations as needed.
