About the Role:
The Machinist 2 plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by operating and maintaining precision machinery to produce high-quality metal parts and components. This position requires a deep understanding of machining techniques, blueprints, and specifications to ensure that all products meet stringent quality standards. The Machinist 2 will be responsible for setting up machines, selecting appropriate tools, and making necessary adjustments to optimize production efficiency. Collaboration with engineering and quality assurance teams is essential to troubleshoot issues and implement continuous improvements. Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a machinist or in a related manufacturing role.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience operating manual and CNC machine tools.
- Strong knowledge of machining safety protocols and quality control standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship or vocational training program in machining.
- Experience with CNC programming and operation.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software.
- Certification from a recognized machining or manufacturing organization.
- Ability to work with a variety of metals and materials.
Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain various types of machine tools including lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate metal parts according to specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements and sequence of operations.
- Measure and inspect finished products using precision instruments to ensure compliance with quality standards and tolerances.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow.
- Collaborate with engineers and quality control personnel to resolve production challenges and implement process improvements.
Skills:
The required skills enable the Machinist 2 to accurately interpret technical drawings and set up machines to produce parts that meet exact specifications, ensuring product quality and consistency. Proficiency in operating both manual and CNC machinery allows for flexibility in handling diverse production tasks and adapting to different manufacturing processes.
