Job Description
Progressive Directions, Inc. (PDI) is hiring compassionate, dependable, and encouraging PRN Job Coaches for our Employment and Community First CHOICES program in Buchanan, Tennessee.
As a Job Coach, you will work directly with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they pursue and maintain employment in their communities. You will provide individualized, hands-on support while encouraging independence, confidence, and long-term workplace success.
What Does PRN Mean?PRN means “as needed.” PRN employees do not have a guaranteed weekly schedule and are contacted based on the employment schedules and support needs of the people served. PRN employees must work at least one shift per pay period to maintain PRN status.
Because employment schedules may vary, flexibility to work different days and hours is important.
What You’ll Do- Provide individualized coaching and support at community-based job sites
- Help people learn job duties, workplace routines, and employer expectations
- Model appropriate workplace behavior, communication, attendance, and professionalism
- Encourage independence and gradually reduce support as skills and confidence improve
- Help identify and address barriers that may affect workplace success
- Communicate professionally with employers, supervisors, families, and PDI management
- Support people in developing positive relationships with coworkers and supervisors
- Assist with transportation or travel training, as assigned
- Complete required service documentation accurately and on time
- Follow each person’s individualized plan, employment goals, and support strategies
- Protect the rights, privacy, dignity, and confidentiality of the people supported

- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in employment services, job coaching, education, caregiving, or disability services is helpful but not required
- Strong communication, patience, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently in community employment settings
- Ability to read, write, communicate, and complete documentation in English
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Reliable transportation and current automobile insurance
- Ability to successfully complete required background checks and drug screening
- Dependable attendance and flexibility to work as needed
- Ability to work at least one shift per pay period
- A genuine commitment to helping people achieve greater independence and employment success
