Responsibilities

Contract Artist/Artist in Healthcare Program artists help enhance the quality of life and normalize the environment for the hospital patients, families, and staff through the enjoyment and participation in arts programs. Contract artists provide hospital patients, families, and staff with a range of arts programming by conducting workshops, by participating in performances, and by creating various art installations. Artists represent a range of disciplines including visual, literary, and performing arts.



Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Arts degree or training in one or more areas of the arts including visual, literary, or performance arts.

Previous work/volunteer experience with children (0-21 years) in medical or non-medical settings is helpful, i.e. schools, early intervention, day care, youth camps, adolescent programs, etc.

Skills
• Knowledge of and proficiency in various art modalities (including visual, literary, and performance) and technical skills involved
• Ability to effectively facilitate group art workshops and performances
• Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impact confidential information
• Ability to work with a team
• Ability to communicate effectively
