Clinical Laboratory Assistant in San Antonio, Texas at University Health System- San Antonio

We are currently looking for a Clinical Laboratory Assistant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company with a reputation for exceptional service and patient care.

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Accurately and rapidly registers, receives and labels samples for analytical testing and/or distribution of specimens to the proper analytical area. Safely and efficiently processes, and stores biological specimens, such as blood, body fluid and tissue, and accessions them into the Laboratory Information System (LIS). Maximum proficiency is expected in following a set of prescribed instructions, strategies and criteria to facilitate patient testing. Recognizes sample stability and integrity problems/errors before patient testing and notifies appropriate personnel for corrections or resubmissions. Operates and maintains minor laboratory equipment, such as pneumatic tube station and automation lines. Accountable for own work as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or equivalent required and one year of laboratory experience or completion of relevant science coursework is highly desired.

OR

• Military Laboratory Training: (Phase I -Air Force or Basic-Army).
