Job Description

Position Title: IT Technician

Reports To: Director of IT

Department: IT

Shift: Varies

Role: The IT Technician serves as a key resource for end-user technology support, delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining the performance and reliability of company computer systems and networked resources. This position is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting hardware, software, and related technologies to maximize employee productivity and minimize downtime. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters team work and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent experience in a similar IT role.
  • Experience: Two or more years’ experience in supporting computers and repairing computer equipment.
  • Skills:
    • Demonstrated experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining computer hardware, peripheral devices, and electronic equipment.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications, including installation, configuration, and end-user support.
    • Fundamental understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, wireless connectivity, LAN/WAN environments, network troubleshooting, and device configuration.
    • Knowledge of data processing procedures, system operations, data management practices, and information technology support functions.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to diagnose technical issues and implement effective solutions.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-service-oriented approach to supporting users at all levels of the organization.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining a high degree of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines and service expectations.
    • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, security standards, and IT best practices.
  • Required:
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Preferred:
  • Experience supporting desktop, laptop, mobile, printer, and peripheral technologies.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, remote support tools, and ticketing systems.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, endpoint protection, and user access management.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Fundamentals, or equivalent are a plus.

Required Work Cards needed:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Gaming License.

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Install, configure, deploy, upgrade, relocate, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, printers, peripherals, and related technology equipment.
  • Provide timely technical support to end users by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, network, and system-related issues.
  • Assist and train employees on the effective use of computer systems, business applications, network resources, and technology best practices.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance, system updates, and preventative measures to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor, identify, and proactively resolve potential technical issues before they impact business operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment, including IT workspaces, storage areas, and equipment inventory.
  • Document support activities, system changes, equipment deployments, and technical solutions as required.
  • Exercise sound judgment and independent decision-making when diagnosing problems and implementing solutions.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of accuracy and customer service.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating with team members and other departments as needed.
  • Adhere to company policies, security standards, and IT best practices.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

Work is performed in a (type of location, i.e., office, kitchen, restaurant, casino, etc.) environment and in other locations throughout the property. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. Additionally, smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations, which are followed by the employer.

  • Effectively interacts and communicates with management, team members, applicants, vendors, and guests in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Maintains the ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the property as needed to support operations.
  • Performs occasional bending, reaching, and stooping in the course of daily responsibilities.
  • Safely lifts and carries items weighing up to approximately 20 pounds when necessary.
  • Demonstrates strong hand-eye coordination for the operation of technical equipment and systems.
  • Frequently utilizes standard office and technology equipment, including computers, monitors, printers/copiers, telephones, and other IT-related tools.
  • Reads, understands, and complies with all company policies and procedures, job requirements, internal communications, technical documentation, and safety guidelines, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS).
  • May have occasional exposure to cleaning agents and operational environments requiring the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety standards.
