Accountant: Senior Accountant

Company: Rapidly growing, locally owned and operated home services business specializing in Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Generator services

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to support the accounting and financial operations of our rapidly growing home services business. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing key accounting processes, supporting month-end close, and helping ensure strong financial controls across multiple trade divisions.

The ideal candidate is highly proficient in QuickBooks, detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Experience with service-based businesses is preferred. Experience with ServiceTitan is a strong plus, particularly within Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Generator, or other home services operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting activities across a multi-trade home services business, including:
• Accounts Payable (AP)
• Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Bank and credit card reconciliations
• General ledger entries and account reconciliations
• Cash receipt and payment tracking
• Support and execute monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes
• Prepare accurate and timely financial reports and supporting schedules
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are properly recorded and classified
• Assist with cash flow reporting, monitoring, and forecasting
• Calculate, prepare, and support filing of state sales tax, county, and local tax requirements, including trade-specific tax considerations
• Track capital expenditures for vehicles, tools, equipment, generators, and other major assets
• Maintain fixed asset schedules, including additions, disposals, and depreciation
• Support payroll processing for field technicians and office staff and assist with payroll reconciliations
• Assist with 401(k) administration, contribution reconciliations, provider coordination, and compliance reporting
• Manage expense tracking, coding, approvals, and reconciliations across Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Generator divisions
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial variance analysis
• Support job-costing and profitability analysis by trade, department, and service line
• Identify accounting discrepancies, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions
• Help maintain and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and documentation
• Prepare schedules and documentation for external CPAs, tax professionals, payroll providers, and other financial partners
• Provide accurate financial information and analysis to management to support operational and business decisions
• Assist with special accounting and financial projects as the company continues to grow

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Generator, construction, field services, or another service-based business
• Strong QuickBooks experience required
• ServiceTitan experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and month-end close
• Experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
• Working knowledge of sales tax, payroll tax, and local tax requirements
• Experience with fixed assets, capital expenditures, and depreciation schedules
• Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
• Strong Excel skills and ability to work with financial data
• High attention to detail with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership of accounting responsibilities
