Position Overview:
A Tire Tech provides hands-on experience with various sorts of tires, from large fleet down through light truck sizes. Persons in these roles will possess a working knowledge of the various types of fleet used within their industry and are prepared to make repairs to all types of equipment and vehicles.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Tire Technicians will be responsible for maintaining records of service and repair work on all trucks, as well as performing unexpected mechanical tasks as needed to minimize disruption of business. They are also expected to order repair and maintenance parts, stock items, and keep inventory records as needed. Tire Techs will be able to identify and overcome issues that arise from mechanical failures, communication breakdowns, availability issues regarding repair parts and tools, and safety concerns as it relates to the fleet. They may also travel to perform repairs and inspections on our job sites and may perform any other duty or assignment as may be required from time to time by their foreman.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
· Must be a dependable person who supports the entire company’s operations by maintaining the heavy and light fleet.
· Conduct repairs, tire rotations, and tire balancing.
· Mounting and dismounting heavy commercial tires for over-sized trucks.
· Experienced in tire wear, mounting/dismounting using hand tools, maintaining stocking levels.
· Proactively remove and minimize potential hazards as they are discovered.
· Ensure adherence to safe work practices.
· Report complex mechanical problems for shop repairs.
· Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Understand, follow, and communicate oral and written instructions clearly and concisely.
· Can work well with others.
· Follow directives and meet deadlines.
· Always be prepared and willing to meet each challenge directly.
· Work independently in the absence of supervision.
· Have moderate computer skills.
· Clean driving record (10 Year MVR to be provided).
Physical Condition:
· Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities such as: heavy lifting and climbing, operating motorized equipment and vehicles, work in confined spaces, work at heights, work around heavy construction equipment.
· Maintain effective audio/visual judgement and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties.
Physical Demands:
· Tire Techs must be able to position self around, on, and under vehicles.
· Will be lifting 50-60 lbs. consistently.
· Rolling tires and lifting them on or off trucks.
· Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, or bending.
