Business Development Manager- Federal

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Development Manager – Federal based in United States.

This role serves as a strategic subject matter expert for the federal government market, helping shape growth initiatives and expand opportunities across the sector. You will work closely with sales, marketing, product, engineering, solutions architecture, and channel partners to develop compelling solutions and partnerships. The position combines market intelligence, business development, strategic marketing, and customer engagement. You will identify emerging opportunities, translate customer needs into actionable strategies, and strengthen market positioning. Your insights will help influence product priorities, sales enablement, and long-term pipeline development. This is an entrepreneurial opportunity for someone who understands the federal landscape and can independently turn ideas into measurable business results.

Accountabilities
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives designed to grow revenue and strengthen the long-term federal government sales pipeline.
  • Analyze federal government market trends, customer requirements, competitive activity, purchasing processes, and emerging sub-sector opportunities to identify areas for growth.
  • Collaborate with sales, product management, engineering, solutions architecture, ISV, integrator, and channel teams to develop, evaluate, and capitalize on strategic partnerships.
  • Work with customers and internal sales teams to identify product opportunities, feature requirements, and business cases that address federal government needs.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on the federal government sector, providing market intelligence, customer insights, product trends, and competitive information to stakeholders and channel partners.
  • Develop and maintain the annual strategic plan for the federal government segment in partnership with business and marketing leaders.
  • Partner with marketing teams to create market messaging, campaigns, sales promotions, presentations, collateral, and other resources that increase awareness and generate qualified opportunities.
  • Provide regular market research, competitive positioning, pricing analysis, and strategic insights to sales leadership.
  • Organize customer advisory events and engage directly with end users to gather feedback and identify evolving market needs.
  • Build relationships with federal government associations, industry organizations, customers, and strategic partners to strengthen market presence and credibility.
  • Manage and audit annual marketing development funds and support special initiatives aligned with federal government sales objectives.
  • Assist the sales organization in developing and closing opportunities and achieving annual revenue targets.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience within the federal government sector.
  • Deep knowledge of federal government trends, terminology, customer requirements, key stakeholders, and market dynamics.
  • Strong understanding of federal purchasing processes, contracts, and opportunity management systems such as Input, FedSources, or similar platforms.
  • Experience identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic plans, and building business cases that secure stakeholder support.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead strategic projects and deliver results across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and business development capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail and consistent follow-through.
  • Highly motivated and entrepreneurial, with the ability to prioritize effectively, take ownership, and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the resourcefulness to navigate complex organizations and build consensus.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency with email, spreadsheets, presentation software, and AI-enabled productivity tools.
  • Experience with B2B technology solutions sold to federal government customers, particularly mobile or related technology, is highly desirable.
  • Established relationships with federal government end users, resellers, integrators, or other strategic partners are a strong advantage.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field relevant to the federal government sector is preferred but not required.
  • Candidates must have valid authorization to work in the United States.
