We are a Customer-First Focused HVAC and Plumbing Company located in the middle of the Dallas / Ft. Worth area.

About the Role:

Important Note: This is an in-office position that will be in the office Monday - Friday from 8 AM until 5 PM (with an one hour lunch) and this is not a remote position. This is a non-exempt role.

As an Accounting Specialist within the construction industry, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining accurate financial records that support project budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting. Your expertise will ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements specific to construction projects, enabling informed decision-making by management. You will collaborate closely with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors to reconcile accounts, process invoices, and monitor expenditures against project budgets. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and the ability to analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and opportunities for cost savings. Ultimately, your work will contribute to the financial health and operational efficiency of construction projects across the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or 4 years of accounting experience directly relating to this position..
  • Two years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction or related industries.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and construction accounting practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with construction project management software and integrated financial systems.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and labor cost tracking specific to construction projects.
  • Familiarity with federal and state construction tax codes and compliance requirements.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, macros, and financial modeling is a plus.
  • ServiceTitan experience is a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts related to construction projects, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Process and verify invoices, purchase orders, and subcontractor payments in accordance with contract terms and company policies.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including project cost reports, budget variance analyses, and cash flow statements.
  • Collaborate with project managers to track project budgets, forecast expenses, and ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and assist with audit preparation and documentation.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to resolve accounting discrepancies and improve financial processes.

Proficiency in accounting software allows for efficient processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations, streamlining daily workflows. Communication skills facilitate collaboration with project teams and external vendors to resolve issues and ensure accurate financial documentation. Preferred skills such as advanced Excel and knowledge of construction-specific tax regulations enhance the ability to perform complex financial analyses and ensure regulatory compliance, contributing to overall operational efficiency.
